Default Account keys and setup question

Hi, I'm returning to Guild Wars after leaving a few months after Factions was released. I had Prophecies, but just today I got (birthday) Eye of the North, and Guild Wars Factions Platinum Edition which Includes Guild Wars (prophecies) Game of the Year Edition.

The person who got the gift for me could not find a plain factions box in any store. I opened it and there is only one DVD with One Key (two games, one key). I want to go back to my old account, yet I feel like it is wasting money to be re-applying another prophecies key, and was wanting to give the extra key to a friend of mine so he could play prophecies. Is Factions and GW:Prophecies GOTY edition despite sharing the same key, seperable?

I'm not too worried (and im guessing) that I am going to have to just apply the key to my current account, which brings me to my next question:

How do I go about re-installing the game without screwing things up? Should I first install the old guild-wars CD I have, then find some option to add the keys of the DVDs I have now? Or can I just install the GW factions&prophecies DVD and I get an option to add it to a current account?(<- im hoping for this way so I won't have to install the same game twice)

What is this NCsoft Account stuff? Do I need to sign up for an NCsoft account to add the keys to my account?

#1. As far as I know the key wont be seperatable If your only provided the one key, then it's what will unlock all campaigns/feature's offered in that pack.

#2. Install the game off the new CD - it will have more of the game files than your old cd. Accounts are not tied to the actual cd/dvd used to install the program - just the key's used to unlock the campaigns.

So install off the new cd, when you get to the login information/screen - use your login details from the original account if you wish to play that..

On that screen you will get a link to create a new account or add a key to a current account - once you decide what you want to do, click that and then select the correct option for what you want.

Take a look:

As you can see, a link to create an accout or add a key.. so just click that and follow the prompts

#3. PlayNC account is only needed if you wish to use the online store. If you don't wish to use the online store, you shouldn't need to create a plaync account.

I would be worried if that pack has been opened before however - i.e. if it was brought second hand? Because the same key cannot be added more than once so if someone else has created an account with it you might not be able to use it...

...If it was new and theres only one key the only way you are going to be able to give your friend a new account is if you use that combined key to create a new acount for yourself and give him your old account as there wont be any way to seperate the keys. You could still move all your gold etc across to your old account using something like GWX2 if you need to.

ku-ku The package was unopened, I'm a stickler about examining all the seals and wrapping on games. It makes sense for them to only have one key for a 'package' thing.

Kamatsu- So I install it, -then- add the keys from both my old prophecies, and the new factions/prophecies, -then- login with my old account info, right?
Would adding the game of the year edition key first, then the old propheies after, overwrite any bonuses negatively?

-thanks

To add the key: install the game, load it up, click on add keys or create account, choose to add key, enter your old account info, enter key, you're all set to play.

NeonWind - As Doofledust stated..

Install the game, then when you get to the login screen, click "Create Account or Add Access Key", select the option to add a key to an existing account, enter your login details where it ask's, then add the key's you want to add to that account.

And no, it doesn't matter what order you put the key's in, you'll get the full benefit of the key's when added.

Only exception is - adding a prophecies key to an account with prophecies already on it won't give you more character slots, but will add extra feature's if the new key has added features - ie Divine Aura if you added a Prophecies CE key to your account.

BTW, since you've already used your original key, it can't be used to create a new account. the key is already associated with your original GW account. you can add whatever key's you want to that account if you want though - you don't need to worry about adding yuour old key to the account, it's already there.

If you want to retain your old account, all you need to do is log into GW and add the new key to your existing account.

The only purpose in installing the game from the new DVD is that you will get newer files and need to download less stuff when you start to play. But you could skip the install and just let the new stuff download as you play, or you could use the "-image" command line switch to download all the latest stuff. (There's info about using the -image command in these forums somewhere.)

In any case, once you get to the login screen just enter your old account name and password and add the new key. Your old key will still be there and won't be useable by anyone else.

Unless you want to give your old account to someone and start a new account with the new key, there is no way to separate out the Prophecies keys.
